Hi all,
I have a new project I am working on and I'd like your input, comment, suggestions and more.
The project is called Our World In Photos. The idea is to offer a single place for photographers from around the world to share their photos in a friendly atmosphere.
The way I have it set up, people can upload to 1 of 7 albums, one per continent. They then put the location the photo was taken at in the description. On some of my previous galleries, I have run into a few problems and that is where I need some help.
First, I would love to figure out how I can reach people to let them know about the site, to invite them to post their photos. As the site is free, and there are no advertisements on it, I really don't have a budget to advertise the site anywhere. There are so many wonderful photographers out there and I want to reach them.
Another issue I have had was photographers worried about their rights to their photos. On the site, I wrote that they will retain their rights to their photos, other than if I want to use one in advertising the site someday down the road, but I also said I would need their permission first... is this good enough or should I specify more?
I guess one of the main things I want to avoid is people thinking I have an ulterior motive for starting the site. I started the site for fun (for me at least) and because I love photography and seeing through the eyes of someones camera. I don't want them to think I'm going to make any money off their photos, because I'm not, so how would I convey all this?
You guys are the photographers, so who better to ask?
Anyhow, if you want to check out the site, contribute to it, or just help me out with comments or suggestions on the administrative end, I'd love to have your support.
Best wishes as always,
Aaron
