Adobe Illustrator/damaged Illustrator files

I recover Illustrator files but I can't open them. I have a massage that it has been damaged. What can I do to repair them?

If you registered your software with Adobe when you bought it, you can go to your account and reload it.
If you're a CC subscriber is just won't happen.

If you're talking about your own files, use your backup.
Don't tell me you didn't back up. I don't want to know.
